Hotel Thamel - Kathmandu

Here's my take on it

Really good service from check-in to checkout, with staff who genuinely care about your comfort. The room was immaculate, and daily housekeeping kept it fresh. Enjoyed delicious, authentic meals every night and a varied breakfast spread. Located on a quiet street amidst the vibrant hustle of the city, it was a perfect retreat.

The beds were big, I slept well. This accommodation had a very central setting to walking area of thamel. Plus, it was adjacent to the Centre right near the market which is quite easy to move around, restaraunts and Thamel Hostel for sure.

Kathmandu suffers from electricity problems for about 10 hrs daily. Especially when the water levels are low in the rivers. So expect to have little power supply during the day. Power is usually available at night. Hot & Cold water available. Some rooms have A/C. The hotel rooms are clean but spartan. The staff is friendly. The restuarant just about functional. Location is dead center within the Thamel market place. By western standards expect to get only $45 worth, exactly what you pay for in terms of comparison to western hotels.

The breakfast was barely edible and the shower curtain left the bathroom flooded. I almost thought this place would be charming, but the disorganization really ruined it for me. I just couldn't recommend it after such poor treatment.

Staff ftriendly and helpful.

The front gate seemed to be locked early every night(approx twelve) but after a few knocks someone would come out and open it for you so not too much of a problem.

the rooms just need a coat of paint to cheer things up and some new towels - perhaps not white next time. Very difficult to keep looking good.

Very good location and friendly stuff

We were in winter and they hadn't any heating in the room. So, was really cold

The service is perfect and the staff are considerate.

Unfortunately, the soundproofing could be significantly improved, as outside noise filtered into our room during the night. As a light sleeper, this made it challenging for me to rest well, particularly with groups of travelers making noise early in the morning and at night. Our room's location meant we could hear gatherings below, quite disruptive.

Small rooms, but its not a big problem considering that you will not spendt time in the room.
